Please read this before installing
The game should not be installed in the default folder, "program files", but rather in a folder you created yourself, while still on the main drive. Example: c://games/nwn/
Unfortunately the GoG version seems (??) to want to install itself in the default folder. To change the directory where GoG installs the game, click customize from the installer window, then change the installation path. If it still doesn't work there are a few things you could try: - Run the game as administrator. - Install the critical rebuild patch (especially if you don't see cloaks in-game). - Run in compatibility mode for Win XP (SP3?) - Install DivX drivers (version 9c SDK?) from Microsoft. - Try windowed mode. - Try renaming nwnmain.exe to something like nwngame.exe - In the file: NWN.INI make sure to have these settings: [Display Options] FullScreen=0 AllowWindowedMode=1 Disable Intro Movies=1 SafeMovie=1 |
Master server gone
EA didnt have enough money to pay for the master server anymore so there are some pecularities because of that. One thing is that when you are trying to log into the multiplayer part of the game it waits for a connection to that server and you unfortunately just have to wait it out. (If you abort it before the time-out it wont work.)
It is possible to reduce the waiting time, see bottom of the page. Gamespy server gone
This also leads to some minor issues, like the in-game server browser not working. Most work around it by simply finding the IP-number for the server they want to play on and use the direct connect function in-game.
The game-server-list websites are popular for this reason. Check the links section. Further enhancements and fixes of the client
